I have been sharing my passion and knowledge for cooking and eating well for over 18 years. My favourite ingredients are those already found in the pantry and easy to obtain and I am a big supporter of local producers and love eating with the seasons (either from our large vegetable garden, or produce from the local farmers’ markets).
My food focus is on flavoursome recipes using everyday ingredients that are packed with nutrients drawing on my knowledge as a trained chef and diploma of natural nutrition. I have also studied for a certificate in adult education, which I find invaluable for sharing my knowledge in the best possible way.
I live in Nelson with my husband and two young children (10 & 12 years) on an 800m2 suburban property where we grow vegetables, care for our 30 (and counting) fruiting plants, and have happy free-range chooks. When I am not teaching or spending time with my family, I work as a food writer and photographer for Stuff.co.nz and NZ Gardener.
I am the author of five cookbooks including my latest cookbook The Homemade Table (October 2022). My other cookbooks include the highly acclaimed Homegrown Kitchen – Everyday Recipes For Eating Well (2017), Feeding Little Tummies (2011), Cooking for your Child (2006) and Alive! (2004).
